It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

It’s here! The hustle and bustle has arrived! I can hear the songs everywhere I go. The stores are prepared for their Christmas shoppers to shop. The frantic frenzy of commercialism has taken over! Oh, and the blizzard of cold wind and snow are on their way! Brrrrr—And the home decorations have been beautifully arranged. Can you smell the Christmas aroma? Mmmm…Let’s stay inside and enjoy our beautiful homes!
Last year, as I was packing my previous decorations away, I decided to do something different for 2022. Usually I decorate for Christmas according to my home color scheme and decor. This year I felt like I wanted to do black and kraft paper brown as my color scheme. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy to find in the stores. Who would ever imagine finding black and brown as Christmas colors? With that thought running through my head, I knew I would have to make my decorations. So we are having a ”Homemade Christmas” this year!
Oh what fun…
This was the first year to work with a Cricut Maker 3. It was also the first year to have 2 grandbabies old enough to notice the decorations. Gma knew it was going to be special! A good ol’ fashioned Christmas was what was needed. What I imagined had to have a paper chain wrapped around the Christmas tree in black and kraft paper brown with stars cut out by the CrIcut. Natural items such as burlap and twine were important to keep simple atmosphere. White and Amber Twinkle lights popped behind the ornaments among the burlap with white snowflakes and black & white buffalo check ribbon. Of course, you can’t have a tree without the ol’ black hat wrapped in burlap on top. There was nothing elaborate this year on the tree, but it was still a tree of love.
With the cold, blistering wind and snow outside right now, I believe next year's theme will be Winter Wonderland. Watch for a white & crystal touches with bling in 2023! But...
Decorating the tree, decorating the house, decorating cookies is NOT what Christmas is all about.
Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus! God’s gift to us to give us hope, peace, love, joy, and so much more. But most of all He gave His only begotten Son to save us from our sins to give us life everlasting. All we have to do is receive and accept His gift. What better gift to receive than Jesus Christ as our Savior!
Christmas is about giving just as God gave to us—give your love, share your joy, give hope to someone in need, share your faith, share God’s Light.
I would like to wish you, your family & friends a very Blessed Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year! Decorating Stages will be launching a new stage in 2023! Be sure to follow me to stay on top of all the changes in January at DecoratingStages.com.
