Christmas in July

Last year, as I was carefully taking down our Christmas decorations, I thought to myself:
What would I like to have as my Christmas theme in 2022?
Immediately, it came to my mind—I want a homemade Christmas! I know it is difficult to imagine in July, but if I want to make my Christmas decorations; I need to get started on them right away. The clock is ticking. I know many start their Christmas shopping in July, but I like to wait until the last minute to do my shopping. There’s something about the hustle and bustle while listening to the Christmas music in the blistering cold. Our family has found an easy way of shopping for gifts through an app called “Giftster”. You can share your list for any occasion with your loved ones. I wouldn’t want to do it any other way any more. Feel free to check it out!
Most of the time, the retailers will dictate what the holiday theme will be with their marketing and the items for sale—gnomes, old truck, wildlife, angels, etc. But what about if we want to be different. I like to decorate my home with the theme in my home to make it look natural. This year we have grandbabies for the first time that will love the decorations. Sooo…my decorations need to be breakproof, if possible. I also want to make them memorable as keepsakes for each of their years. There are so many ideas.
Putting together a decorating project can be mind blowing! To make things easier, let’s make a checklist. That’s how I like to start any project. Honestly, I am a professional list maker! Let’s break things down into small steps to get started on this race to December.
